Performs a wide variety of duties to provide a safe and secure treatment environment to residents while recognizing their educational, cultural and spiritual needs and differences. Adheres to all of Rushford's Policies and Procedures.
Ensures physical care is provided for each resident, including clothing, health care, hygiene, shelter and nutrition according to Rushford's Policies and Procedures. Ensures that DCF Rights of Children & Youth are adhered to.
Supervises residents in ratio dictated by licensing requirements to maintain safety/security of all residents and staff. Provides emergency first aid and CPR, when needed.
Manages resident behavior utilizing information from individualized treatment plans, milieu staff specific objectives/interventions as outlined in the milieu note, the Behavioral Management System, and Rushford's Policies and Procedures.
Intervenes with residents to facilitate verbal de-escalation using Behavioral Management System techniques and performs physical behavioral interventions, when imminent risk criteria are met, using Behavioral Management System techniques. Identifies potential problems with residents and informs shift supervisor.
Completes documentation assigned (Residential Tracking, Milieu Notes, etc.) to meet regulatory standards (DCF Licensing, PNMI) and internal standards (Rushford Policy & Procedure).
Assists in keeping the environment neat, clean, and secure. Performs assigned housekeeping tasks.
Transports residents to medical and dental appointments, as assigned.
Administer medication to residents as scheduled, upon successful completion of DCF medication administration training.
Participates and facilitates organized activities.
Participates in all scheduled and volunteered trainings. (Rushford, DMHAS, CCB, etc.)
Encourages that ADLs (Activities for Daily Living) are completed daily by each resident.
Executes the activities of shift according to program schedule.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Coordinator.
Qualifications High school diploma required; experience working with children/adolescents strongly preferred.
Experience working with children/adolescents strongly preferred. Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within first three months of employment. Must obtain Rushford Restraint Certification within three months of employment. Valid CT driver's license with safe driving record.
